Morse Code Translator

Translate text to Morse code and Morse code to text instantly. Supports letters A–Z, numbers 0–9, and common punctuation. All processing happens in your browser — no data is sent to any server.

What is Morse Code?

Morse code is a method of encoding text as a series of dots (.) and dashes (-). Each letter, number, and many punctuation marks have a unique sequence. Developed in the 1830s–1840s for telegraphy, it remains in use for aviation, amateur radio, and emergency signaling (e.g. SOS).

This translator uses International Morse Code. Letters are separated by spaces; words are separated by / or |. All processing runs in your browser; no data is sent to any server.

How it Works

  1. Choose direction: Text → Morse or Morse → Text.
  2. Enter input: Type or paste text, or paste Morse code (dots, dashes, spaces).
  3. View output: The result updates as you type.
  4. Copy the output, Play Morse as audio, or Download as WAV. Use Swap to flip input and output.

For Text → Morse, you can choose the word separator: /, |, or double space. For Morse → Text, both / and | are treated as word separators.

  • Emergency: Encode SOS (... --- ...) or other signals.
  • Puzzles & games: Create or solve Morse-based riddles and challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What characters are supported?

Letters A–Z (case-insensitive), numbers 0–9, and common punctuation: period, comma, question mark, apostrophe, exclamation, slash, parentheses, ampersand, at sign, plus, minus, equals, colon, semicolon, dollar sign, underscore. Characters without a Morse equivalent are skipped when converting to Morse.

How does Play and Download work?

When you have Morse code (either as output in Text → Morse mode, or as input in Morse → Text mode), you can Play to hear it as audio (600 Hz tone: short for dots, long for dashes) or Download WAV to save it as an audio file.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. All conversion and audio generation happens in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
